He recorded 25 points (10-15=25) and 103 PIM in 113 contests during two seasons with the Wild (2014-16). Carter played in 18 games with the Iowa Wild in 2016-17 after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He announced his retirement as a player in Sept. of 2017.

At the conclusion of camp, the Devils did not offer Carter a contract and he instead signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Wild on October 6, 2014.
